Have you ever heard of Don Quixote of La Mancha? Well, it is more than likely considering that he is the protagonist of one of the most translated books in history. At this point there is controversy: some say that it occupies first place behind The Bible and others say that at a certain point The Little Prince took advantage of it.
In any case, second or third, Don Quixote has been translated into 145 languages, dialects or linguistic varieties since its publication in 1605. How could Mr. Miguel de Cervantes image it!
Of course, the translators of such a famous work have had a hard job since it contains around 381,000 words and, of all of them, around 23,000 are non-repeated terms. Its author had, what is said, an extensive vocabulary.
We are not going to teach you 23,000 words at once, but we can start with you the path that takes you to reading one of the masterpieces of universal literature in its original language.
Do you dare to take on the challenge of Don Quixote?
