Italian, as everyone knows, is a Romance language and probably is the modern language that still uses numerous Latin expressions in everyday speech. Let's see some examples:
"Carpe diem", translated as "Seize the day"; encourages living fully in the present, without worrying about the future.
"Veni, vidi, vici", attributed to Caesar, means "I came, I saw, I conquered" and refers to swift and decisive action.
"In vino veritas" meaning "In wine, there is trut", suggests that under the influence of alcohol, people tend to reveal their true feelings.
Finally, "ad hoc" is used to indicate something done specifically for a particular purpose.
