Official exams for Italian as a second language (L2) are essential tools for assessing and certifying the language proficiency level of non-native students. These exams are designed to test language skills: listening comprehension, reading comprehension, speaking, and writing.
One of the main Italian L2 exams is the CELI (Certificate of Knowledge of the Italian Language), offered by the University for Foreigners of Perugia. The CELI is divided into various levels, from level A1 to level C2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
Another widely recognized exam is the CILS (Certification of Italian as a Foreign Language), developed by the University for Foreigners of Siena. The CILS is also structured into different levels, from level A1 to level C2, and assesses students'; language skills through listening, reading, writing, and speaking tests.
Additionally, there is the Cert.it exam, offered by the University Roma Tre. And finally, there
is the PLIDA exam (Progetto Lingua Italiana Dante Alighieri), promoted by the Dante Alighieri Society.
Each exam has its own characteristics and requirements, but all provide an accurate
assessment of non-native students; language proficiency level. Obtaining certification in Italian L2 can be a significant advantage for anyone wishing to study or work in Italy or in any other context where Italian is an important language.
Thanks to our preparation courses, designed and taught by the professor and official examiner Alfredo Costabile, over the years dozens of students have managed to obtain
their official certification diploma with a success rate of 100%.
